I’m excited to announce that I am nominated for Doll of the Year! I am deeply honored to be a finalist amongst some of the best toys and big brand names. I am here representing the curly girls worldwide. 65% of the world’s population has wavy or curly hair, but only 4 out of 10 girls love their curls.
Yelitsa Jean-Charles made me because she did not have a doll that looked like her growing up. Healthy Roots Dolls creates toys and storybooks that empower young girls and represent the beauty of their diversity.
I’m beyond a toy that has fun with my curlfriends. I’m the friend in your child’s life that shows her that her curly hair is perfect. No hair is “bad hair,” and we should wear our curly hair boldly. I represent the beauty of our diversity because no one should feel less than because of the kink of their curl or the color of their skin.
I am a doll that makes an impact because representation matters.
