Why is Simone Biles the GOAT? Because She Is

Simone Biles has seven all-around US gymnastics championships, being the only woman in US history to hold the most wins. One of the greatest gymnasts of all time teaches little girls so many lessons in her life.

Here are some of our biggest takeaways from Simone and why we love her.

Simone speaks up and pushes for accountability

Simone told a 60-minute reporter she would not put her daughter in gymnastics because she does not feel comfortable. She doesn’t feel comfortable because of her experience with abuse and the organization not taking accountability for their actions nor ensuring Simone and her peers that it wouldn’t happen again.

As she courageously tells her story, she says it is not over. She continues to fight for reform and accountability. This shows little girls to stand up for themselves and not be silent until they see a change.

Simone believes #Representation Matters

Simone shared the importance of representation with Health Magazine. Simone states, “Representation matters, and we want to inspire the next generation to pursue their passion. Kids can come in, and we will be training in the back, and they can see we are just like them. It helps them understand they can do it too.”

We agree, this year the entire US Gymnastics Olympic team are black and brown women representing young black girls at the Olympic trials. It shows all young girls that they can make history as well. They’re inspired to chase their dreams and change the world with their talents.

Simone is beating the odds

Most medalists are teenagers while she is in her early 20s. Simone continues to train to see what she is capable of doing. This shows little girls not to be defined by society’s standards but to make their own. To push their limits, grow out of their comfort zone and to see how much they can accomplish.

Simone is showing up for her fans and her haters

Being known, rightfully so, as the GOAT, Simone wears leotards with embellished sparkling goats on them. She said this was a “hit back at the haters” after they jokingly said if she wore a GOAT on her leotard, they’d hate it. She thought it was a great idea.

Simone states that she hopes kids watching this will not be ashamed of being good at whatever they do. Also, she wants kids to know that it is okay to acknowledge that they’re good or even great at some things.

Simone inspires us to be unique

Simone encourages everyone to be themselves and not to let anybody tell them differently. She states, “if you have goals, dreams, whatever it is, go for it. Don’t let anybody hold you back because it’s going to seem scary, and it should. But in the end, it will pay off even if you're walking on the road alone. Just do it, go for it, and believe in yourself.”

Simone sends kind and inspiring words to everyone.
