Express your love for mom this Mothers Day with a Do-it-Yourself (DIY) gift from the heart. Here are three simple DIY gifts that are age-appropriate for all children.

Name Canvas

Ages 9 months - 4 years old 

Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • Small canvas 
  • Paint 
  • Tape 
  • Large zip lock bag 

    1. Gathering all of the materials. 
    2. Write the recipient’s name on the canvas and cover it with tape.
    3. Add four dots of paint on the canvas and then place it inside the bag.
    4. Give the canvas in the bag to your child. Let them move the paint on the canvas until it is covered completely. 
    5. After the canvas is covered with paint, remove the canvas. 
    6. Remove the tape and allow the masterpiece to dry.

Hands of Love 

Ages 4 - 7 years old 

Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • Medium canvas 
  • Paint 
  • Tape 
  • Markers

  1. Gathering all of the materials. 
  2. Add tap to the canvas horizontally or vertically (your choice).
  3. Paint your entire hand and place your hand on the canvas. (this hand combo can be between your little one and whomever in the family)
  4. Place the other person’s handprint next to the other hand.
  5. Remove the tape from the canvas.
  6. Use markers to write the names of the hands-on line and a nice heartfelt message with decorations.

Love Jar

Ages 7 and older 

Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • Mason Jar 
  • Paper/ little sticky notes  
  • paint  
  • Markers 
  • Twine (optional)

  1. Gathering all of the materials.
  2. Cut up small pieces of paper all the same size that will fit into the mason jar.
  3. Write down why you love your mother on each piece of the mason jar. If you have 20 pieces of paper, then it’ll be 20 reasons why you love your mother.
  4. Finish the love notes to mom and then fill the mason jar. Decorate the jar in any way you like 😊. Now there’s a jar of daily reminders of love.
